Plan EV charging before walls, ceilings, driveways or electrical plans are finalised, helping reduce avoidable rework and cost later.

Prepare for EV charging before construction or renovation work is completed.

You do not always need to install the charger immediately. Planning the charger location, conduit pathway, cable route and switchboard allowance early can make future installation cleaner, easier and more practical.

GridPilot’s EV-Ready Assessment is designed for homeowners, builders and renovation teams planning garages, carports, driveways, switchboard work, solar, batteries or new-build projects.

What We Review

  • Current plans and expected construction stage
  • Possible Future charger location and parking position
  • Preliminary conduit and cable-route considerations
  • Switchboard location and possible allowance for future EV charging
  • Indoor or outdoor charger placement consideration
  • Information to discuss with the builder and licensed electrician
  • Solar, battery, smart charging and second-EV plans
  • Whether to install now or prepare infrastructure for later

What You Receive

  • Review of the visible site and available plans
  • Preliminary recommended future charger location
  • Preliminary conduit and cable-route considerations
  • EV charging considerations for professional review as part of the switchboard and wider project scope
  • Preliminary install-now versus prepare-for-later pathway
  • A concise written EV-ready summary for discussion with the builder and licensed electrician

Important Notes

  • Price covers one standard residential renovation or new-build project within GridPilot’s standard Auckland service area.
  • Plans should be supplied before the assessment where available.
  • The assessment provides preliminary planning guidance based on visible site conditions, available plans and information provided at the time of assessment.
  • It is not an electrical design, construction drawing, approval to carry out work or confirmation of final installation feasibility.
  • Final measurements, cable sizing, circuit design, electrical capacity, protection requirements, installation methods, compliance decisions and prescribed electrical work must be independently confirmed and completed by suitably qualified and licensed professionals.
  • Major developments, apartment projects and multi-dwelling sites require a Commercial Site Assessment and custom scope.

Any electrical installation is separately assessed, quoted, contracted, invoiced, performed, tested and certified by an independent licensed electrical contractor engaged directly by the customer. GridPilot does not supply or invoice the electrical installation service.

Booking Information

  • Allow approximately 60–90 minutes for the assessment and plan discussion.
  • Book before walls, ceilings, driveways or landscaping are closed or completed wherever possible.
  • Full payment of NZ$199 incl. GST is required before the assessment.

GridPilot’s Role and Next-Step

GridPilot provides an early planning summary to support discussion with the customer’s builder and licensed electrical contractor. GridPilot may separately quote eligible charger equipment, but does not supply or invoice electrical installation services. Final construction and electrical decisions remain with the appropriately qualified professionals responsible for the project.
